The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-to-one training, baseline assessment, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client. This qualification will allow you to train in the field of strength and conditioning, advise on nutrition and use a variety of strength training lifts.

Learners are encouraged to be responsible for their own learning and fully participate throughout all aspects of the course. A course timetable will be posted to you once your enrolment has been completed, before the start of the course.

A pre-requisite for all of the above courses is that you have experience participating within the gym and/or studio environment.

Learners are required to bring pens and paper for all theory sessions, along with appropriate exercise clothing and footwear for practical sessions. It is also suggested that all students have a change of clothing for their own comfort and hygiene.
You can study this course over a length of time that is suitable to you. It can be done as quickly as a few weeks/months, or a year – depending on how much time you have to study and your knowledge to date.

Everest Fitness Education will ensure there is an expert tutor available (times to be agreed) on a weekly basis and you will be assigned a study coach to guide and assist you through the qualification.
L3 Personal Trainer Certificate
Learners will cover:
Mandatory Units

  • anatomy and physiology including:
    - the heart and circulatory system
    - musculoskeletal system
    - postural and core stability
    - the nervous and energy systems and their relation to exercise and health
  • how to maintain health, safety and welfare in a variety of fitness environments, including the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
  • how to programme safe and effective exercise for a range of clients, the health benefits of physical activity and the importance of healthy eating
  • how to communicate with clients effectively, and motivate clients to adhere to an exercise programme
  • how to apply the principles of nutrition to support client goals as part of an exercise and physical activity programme
  • how to design, manage, and adapt a personal training programme with apparently healthy adults of all ages
  • how to deliver exercise and physical activity as part of a programme for apparently healthy adults of all ages
This requires you to attend two theory days and three practical days. You will need to complete this part of this course before continuing on to the other units which are listed below (these can be completed in any order).
Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Instructor

Weightlifting

  • Official competition style powerlifts

This is a one day course which includes practical assessments on each subject area and an 4 week case study assignment to be completed within 2 weeks of the course.
Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor
Knowledge and understanding relating to the qualification
  • History of the Kettlebell, Kettlebells Basics, Program design for 1-2-1 training and Kettlebell classes
  • Swings
  • Snatch & Variations
  • Cleans & Jerks Variations
  • Pistols/Squats/Lunges
  • 1 leg deadlifts Ipse/Contra Lateral
  • Military Press/Bottom Up Press
  • 1 Arm KB Row
  • Floor Press
  • Turkish Getups

Sports Performance Nutrition
Knowledge and understanding relating to the qualification
  • the physical changes which take place during the ante and post natal periods
  • the biological structure and function of the digestive system.
  • the Foundation of Human Health and essential nutrients.
  • food types and how the body metabolises and utilises fats, proteins and carbohydrates and the effects of these nutrients have both physically and psychologically.
  • the Sugar- fat Connection.
  • an examination of fats and the role of fats within the body and understanding
  • the essential role fats play in human health.
  • cholesterol – dispelling confusion.
  • calorie counting, why it fails and how to lose body fat
  • malnutrition and other deficiencies and the consequences of inadequate nutrition.
  • basic nutritional assessment of diet and food planning for your clients to enhance both health and performance.
You are required to attend a one day theory course. You are required to complete a case study after the course, which is your assessment. Our student must then develop a nutrition plan, utilising information that has been covered within the course, which will aim improve the case study’s body composition and performance. This plan must then be submitted for review.
Advanced Sports Performance Nutrition
Knowledge and understanding relating to the qualification
  • a recap of digestive biology, structure and function.
  • more Biology: Cells, organelles and membranes.
  • health and performance: How foods affect hormones within the body and how foods can be used to promote performance, recovery and growth.
  • food types critical for sports performance and Health.
  • how the body metabolises and utilises fats, proteins and carbohydrates and the effects of these nutrients have both physically and psychologically.
  • an examination of fats and the role of fats within the body and understanding the essential role fats play in human health, body composition and performance.
  • the relationship between proper exercise and muscular development, body fat reduction and discriminate weight loss.
  • the roles of super foods and performance enhancing supplements in sports performance.
  • nutritional assessment of diet and food planning for your clients to enhance both health and performance.
  • measuring body composition.
You are required to attend a one day theory course. You are required to complete a case study after the course, which is your assessment. Our student must then develop a nutrition plan, utilising information that has been covered within the course, which will aim improve the case study’s body composition and performance. This plan must then be submitted for review.

    Yes, you will need to hold your Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing - Gym-Based Exercise (or equivalent) before beginning this qualification.
  • What qualifications will I get?[+]
    You will become a Master Personal Trainer specialising in Strength & Conditioning and gain the;

    CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
    KBT Level 1 Strength & Conditioning
    KBT Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor
    KBT Sports Performance Nutrition
    KBT Advanced Sports Performance Nutrition

    They are nationally recognised qualifications and carry a total of 52 REPS points and allows entry to the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3.
  • What are the Individual learning needs?[+]
    Learners are requested to identify any individual learning needs, medical conditions and/or injuries that may affect learning or the assessment process, on the application form or directly to the tutor.

    Your tutor and assessor will be able to advise you on the specific requirements of the course and related assessment. In some instances it may be possible to apply a ‘Reasonable Assessment Adjustment’ to take into account a specific learning need. Please discuss this with your course tutor during registration to ensure you are fully supported during the course and assessment. The course timetable will also clearly identify learner guidance and support time when your tutor will be available to answer specific queries or clarify areas that are unclear.

    It is important that learners are aware that the course will involve some home study/work at the end of each day. This may involve some written work or practice of practical teaching skills and exercise technique.

    The course is assessed through a combination of multiple choice theory exams, worksheets and observations of practical skills.
