CYQ Award in Sports Conditioning

This qualification provides learners to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required in order to work with athletes from an extensive variety of sports in an unsupervised manner. There will be focus on the considerations for safe and effective exercise and how to plan and adapt exercise for these particular clients.

Learners are encouraged to be responsible for their own learning and fully participate throughout all aspects of the course. A course timetable will be posted to you once your enrolment has been completed, before the start of the course.

A pre-requisite for all of the above courses is that you have experience participating within the gym and/or studio environment.

Learners are required to bring pens and paper for all theory sessions, along with appropriate exercise clothing and footwear for practical sessions. It is also suggested that all students have a change of clothing for their own comfort and hygiene.
The course is a one day course, which requires understanding of mainly theory knowledge. There will be some study to do at home, but you will be provided with study materials to work from.

Everest Fitness Education will ensure there is an expert tutor available (times to be agreed) on a weekly basis and you will be assigned a study coach to guide and assist you through the qualification.
Learners will cover:
Mandatory Units

  • collecting information relating to the client and their choice of sporting event
  • how to analyse and break down sporting activities from the perspective of fitness and conditioning
  • utilising a range of sport specific training methods
  • planning relevant conditioning activities for participants in sports/events

  • Are there any entry requirements?[+]
    Yes, you will need to hold your Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing – either Gym Based or Exercise To Music.   • What qualifications will I get?[+]
    You will gain the CYQ Level 3 Award in Sports Conditioning. It is a nationally recognised qualification and carries 16 REPS points.
  • How will I be Assessed?[+]
    The course is assessed through a combination of portfolio of evidence and worksheets. You will create a portfolio of evidence throughout the course.
